Hope and Fear: Obama into 2014
By Eileen F. Toplansky

In the days before the 1905 Russian Revolution, there was great discontent with the Tsar's dictatorship.  The revolution was a "wave of mass political and social unrest that spread through vast areas of the Russian Empire. Some of it was directed against the government, while some was undirected. It included terrorism, worker strikes, peasant unrest, and military mutinies."

These cataclysmic changes evoked a number of reactions.  Isaac Leib Peretz, one of the luminaries of Yiddish literature, wrote a small essay entitled "Hope and Fear," wherein he asserted the following.

I worry.

As victors. You may become the bureaucracy: apportioning to each his morsel, as to inmates in a poorhouse: allotting work, like a sentence of hard labor.  You will destroy that creator of new worlds-the human spirit.  You will fill the purest well of human happiness-initiative-the force that is able to pit one man against thousands.  You will mechanize life.  To improve it, you will command it to be burned.

You will be occupied with regulations: with writing, assessing, making notations.  You'll be busy prescribing: how strongly, how often, a pulse is permitted to beat: how far an eye may see: how much an ear may take: what kind of dream is permitted to a yearning heart. More

According to a study by the American Action Forum released Friday morning, the new regulations will “account for 797 pages, $9.1 billion in new costs, and 10.6 million additional paperwork burden hours.” M

Obamacare Cover-Up: Did HHS Encourage Violation of SEC Law? 2:18 PM, 11/3/12
Early this morning, the Hill reported that the Obama administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is relying on a private company — a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group — to play a central role in establishing and running Obamacare’s insurance “exchanges.”  As the Hill writes, the report raises serious questions about competitive fairness, as “the quiet nature of the transaction, which was not disclosed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has fueled suspicion among industry insiders that UnitedHealth Group may be gaining an advantage for its subsidiary, UnitedHealthcare.”

But there’s far more to this story. An insurance industry insider (speaking on the condition of anonymity) says that HHS, in an attempt to hide this transaction from public view until after the election, actively encouraged the violation of SEC law.

According to my source (the basis for most of this account), in January of this year, HHS awarded Quality Software Services, Inc. (QSSI) — a federal IT contractor — what the Hill describes as “a large contract to build a federal data services hub to help run the complex federal health insurance exchange.”

At that time, the director of Obamacare’s newly established Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) — which the Hill describes as “the office tasked with crafting rules for the national exchange” — was Steve Larsen.

Obama’s pathway to gun confiscation

Elected officials in California, Connecticut, Maryland and New York have told the rest of  America the truth about their vision for private ownership of firearms in America. They want to eliminate it.

Only the most willfully blind believe that the politicians in these states would not have passed laws calling for the confiscation of firearms if not stopped by the recent landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Heller v. D.C., which affirmed individual Second Amendment constitutional rights by the narrowest 5-4 margin.

Truth and Consequences
(will we look back 4 years from now and wish we had heeded the warnings presented in this article) 11/13/12
By Claudia Roazen

Many agree that this 2012 presidential election is the most significant election perhaps the country has ever faced in its history. Some say this election is about the economy, others contend it is about values– the truth is it is about our nation’s survival.  This election is about ideology, and ideology is replete with a myriad of differences on the issues on one hand, and simply a stark choice between two ideas on the other hand.  These two ideologies can be labeled many ways, such as left versus right, socialism versus capitalism, or anti-Americanism versus a constitutionally faithful Republic.

The liberalization of America is a myth– wrapped up in a façade of progressive lies and rationalizations– designed to distract Americans from guilt and accountability from our failed responsibility to preserve our founding father’s legacy.
